I am starting this blog to communicate with others about the new state paperwork for special education. I believe this new paperwork will take twice as long as the old paperwork. What will the state come up with next.
I agree! I keep thinking that maybe I'll eventually get used to it. Another concern I have is how dificult it is for parents to read. It's hard enough for them to come to a meeting, listen to our "jargon" and now to try to read a form that is very difficult to follow.
I think the amount of paperwork and assessment throughout the school system is becoming more and more overwhelming. I'm worried that this takes away from the main reason we went into education...to teach! (I started my blog and it will include 3 people as hosts so now when I comment, 3 names will appear but it's really just me...Cherrie)
Thank-you for entering my blog. This is a great way to talk about issues that you might not discuss in your district because you don't want any repercussions. When I first started in Special Education the secretary would do the ignition, and other paperwork. Now its all on the teacher besides trying to teach the many subjects in your classroom.
Just in case others want to respond to this blog, here is how to find it. Go to mills-septs.blogspot.com and that will take you to Special Education paperwork.
Training is another key issue that needs to be addressed. We are expected to know what we are doing when given just an overview. It's amazing how much precious time we waste filling out forms when we should be using that time/energy for our students!
I believe that we spend more time doing paperwork and less time teaching. I have decided that teaching comes first and I will get to the paperwork when I have time.

How can 80 minutes go by so quickly and I don't get anything done? Does paperwork take the fun out of teaching for you?
